The Story Behind PRO Software
We started by solving our own problems. What began as a routing tool for a single portable sanitation company has grown into a platform trusted by operators across North America.
From Prototype to Platform
PRO Software was founded by Vernon Hogan in Greensboro, North Carolina. Before writing a single line of code, Vernon spent years working directly with portable sanitation operators—learning their pain points, watching dispatchers juggle paper route sheets, and seeing how much time got lost to manual processes.
The first version of PRO was built to solve a specific problem: master route optimization for recurring service stops. It worked. Operators who adopted it cut windshield time and added capacity without adding trucks. That success led to requests for more—dispatching, invoicing, driver apps, customer portals.
Today, PRO Software is a full ERP platform serving portable toilet operators, septic haulers, roll-off companies, and other service businesses. But we haven't forgotten where we started. Every feature still gets tested against a simple question: does this actually help operators run their business better?
